I added more shots to this as i realised there wasn't enough to follow genre conventions, as they normally have nearer to a 100 for pop acoustic.

Conclusions from Research

Camera Shots:
The pop acoustic genre uses a wide range of shots, for example a convention I’ve noticed, is cutting from a close up to an extreme long shot. This was present in both James Arthur and Taylor Swift when on the lake. Over the shoulder shot would be very effective when on a phone, or when playing an instrument.  The close up on hands is present in this genre, and the hands actually playing the instruments.  The first establishing shot will either be a close up of the hands playing the piano or the shot of the artist.

Angles:
The use of matched cut is very effective, and using the high angle and the low angle, to show the point of view of the person.  Also using high angles is a convention for when the tar image is playing their instrument and is singing, however is not singing directly into camera and I actually facing forwards.

Framing:
The idea of having them left of frame when the two actors are in the park would work well, and having the right of the frame filled with nature and perhaps using a large tree to be in a shot. This will work well because one of our locations are in the park.

Movement:
Tracking would be very effective when following a person’s hand as they touch someone else; this often gets used in this genre. Also the tracking backwards would work well as they walk together.

Set design:
Props are crucial. We have thought of specifically getting a poster of High School Musical to add inter textuality of when the star image was going to put the necklace on the female, similarly to Troy and Gabriella.

Locations:
With this genre, all the locations tend to incorporate nature. For example they all have reflections of trees, and natural lighting, also the season is in our favour as genre conventions for this tend to be wrapped up in scarfs and it is always in colder seasons. We are going to do over cranking shots of the two walking through the leaves in a park, as this is incorporating genre well.

Costume:
The costumes of the star image, tend to be very casual, and a genre convention is they look slightly messy and effortless, so therefore we are going to ask our star image to wear denim and perhaps ripped clothes.

Make up:
The females in this genres music videos all wear natural make up an look effortless, therefore we will ask the female in our video to wear a nude lipstick and subtle make up. However when she is caught with the other boy she will be wearing brighter lipstick showing she is making more effort for this other boy.

Editing:
Sam Smiths video uses slow motion to show emotions, and I hope to do the same for when the star image has realised the girl is with another boy. Also to have longer shot length when the artist is actually singing into camera, and has shorter shot lengths when we are cutting to memories. Also a lot of continuity editing.

Planning: Organising shooting dates

In order to decide dates, we created a facebook group chat, to check the availability dates for when to shoot. As h is the star image we revolve our dates for when he is free, and then tell our further actors them dates to see if they're free.

We currently have the dates October 24th and October 25th.

We have also asked for permission from out star image, Julian, if we can borrow his Piano for the intro shots.

We informed our star image that we wanted casual clothes, that were stylish, e.g. denim, we also sent them the link to James Arthurs music video "say you wont let go" to help them to vision how we want to have the artist singing into camera with cuts away into different scenes with lots of natural lighting.

Planning: character and plot analysis.

A lady from Blueprint film foundation came in and explained to us some crucial aspects of planning before shooting, one aspect I liked was the use of  DOSS.

Desire - Obstical - Strategy - Stress

In our music video the desire is Ben Austins love for Abbie. The Obstical is that she seems uninterested and Ben has stronger feelings, the strategy is that he shows more affection and buys her a necklace, but the stress is that she has already found someone else.
